Build a private practice that actually fits you.

Starting a private practice can feel exciting, empowering AND surprisingly overwhelming.

There are dozens of decisions to make: branding, websites, fees, insurance, policies, marketing, systems, documentation, finances, scheduling, and figuring out how to actually find the clients you want to work with.

And while there is plenty of information available online, piecing it all together on your own can leave you wondering:

Am I doing this right? What am I forgetting? And what should I be focusing on next? Why does this feel so hard?

What Is Butterfly?

Butterfly is a year-long private practice creation cohort from Elevated Growth Collective designed to help therapists move from ideas and uncertainty to a practice that feels intentional, sustainable, and uniquely their own.

Butterfly is a small-group program for therapists who are ready to create, grow, or thoughtfully redesign their private practice.

Rather than giving you a generic checklist and sending you on your way, Butterfly combines practical business guidance, structured accountability, collaborative problem-solving, and the support of a small community of therapists who are building alongside you.

Throughout the year, we’ll work through the many pieces of private practice ownership together... from defining what you want your practice to look like to building the systems, visibility, and confidence needed to make it work.

The goal isn’t simply to help you open a practice. It’s to help you create a practice you’ll actually want to keep and will grow to love.

What We’ll Work On

Every private practice is different, but Butterfly will help you think intentionally about the major decisions involved in building one.

Topics may include:

  • Clarifying your niche, ideal clients, and services

  • Creating a sustainable schedule and caseload

  • Setting fees and thinking through financial goals

  • Insurance versus private-pay practice models

  • Branding and developing a recognizable professional identity

  • Creating a therapist website that works for both potential clients and search engines

  • SEO and helping clients find you online

  • Marketing without feeling like you have to become an influencer

  • Building referral relationships

  • Creating policies, workflows, and administrative systems

  • Choosing technology and practice-management tools

  • Developing additional services or revenue streams

  • Managing the emotional side of becoming a business owner

  • Setting boundaries that reduce burnout

  • Evaluating what’s working and adjusting as your practice evolves

Just as importantly, you’ll have a place to bring the unexpected questions that inevitably come up along the way.

More Than a Business Course

You can learn a lot about private practice from books, podcasts, webinars, and social media.

But knowing what you could do is different from having support while you actually do it.

Butterfly is intentionally designed as a cohort rather than a self-paced course because building a business rarely happens in a straight line.

Sometimes you need information.

Sometimes you need feedback.

Sometimes you need accountability.

And sometimes you simply need a group of people who understand why deciding on your hourly fee suddenly feels like an existential crisis.

Butterfly gives you a consistent place to return, ask questions, make decisions, troubleshoot problems, celebrate progress, and keep moving forward.

A Small Cohort by Design

Butterfly is limited to eight participants.

Keeping the group small allows us to spend meaningful time on each participant's individual practice rather than relying only on broad, one-size-fits-all instruction.

You’ll learn from the questions and experiences of other therapists while still having room to talk specifically about your own goals, challenges, and decisions.

Over the course of the year, the group also becomes something many private practice owners are missing: a professional community.

Instead of trying to figure everything out alone, you’ll be surrounded by colleagues who understand what you’re building because they’re building something too.

How Butterfly Works

Butterfly is a 12-month cohort designed to provide more support during the early stages of practice development while continuing to offer guidance as your practice begins to take shape.

For the first six months, the cohort meets twice each month for 90 minutes.

For the following six months, we meet once each month for 90 minutes.

This structure gives you both momentum and breathing room: concentrated support while you’re making major decisions, followed by ongoing accountability as you implement, refine, and grow.

Who Is Butterfly For?

Butterfly may be a good fit if you are a therapist who:

  • Is considering starting a private practice but doesn’t know where to begin

  • Wants to become more intentional about niche, branding, marketing, or business strategy

  • Would benefit from accountability to actually complete the projects you keep postponing

  • Wants thoughtful guidance without being told there is only one “right” way to run a therapy practice

  • Values collaboration and wants relationships with other therapists building businesses of their own

You do not need to have everything figured out before joining.

That’s the point.

Build It Your Way

There is no single formula for a successful private practice.

Some therapists want a small private-pay caseload.

Others want to accept insurance.

Some want to work three days a week.

Some want to develop intensives, groups, consultation, courses, supervision, or additional services.

Some want to build a larger group practice.

And some simply want a calm, profitable solo practice with enough flexibility to have a life outside of work.

Butterfly isn’t about building the biggest practice.

It’s about becoming more intentional about the practice you want to build.

We’ll look at the practical realities of business ownership while helping you make decisions based on your goals, strengths, capacity, and values.

Why “Butterfly”?

A private practice often begins quietly.

An idea.

A domain name.

A first client.

A room you hope someone will eventually sit in.

Over time, those small decisions become something much bigger: greater professional autonomy, financial possibility, creativity, flexibility, and a career shaped more intentionally around the life you want.

Butterfly represents that process of transformation.

Not an overnight reinvention.

A gradual unfolding.

Small changes. Thoughtful decisions. A practice taking shape.

Ready to Build What Comes Next?

You don’t have to figure out private practice alone.

If you’re ready to create a practice with more clarity, confidence, community, and intention, Butterfly was created for you.

The 2027 Butterfly Private Practice Creation Cohort begins January 2027.

Enrollment is limited to 8 participants. Meetings will be virtual, but there may be in-person workshops or meetups as needed.

If you're ready to stop working for someone else and trying to figure it all out alone, Email me at Info@ElevatedGrowthCollective.com and mention that you'd like to be a Butterfly :)(:
